Ely-Bloomenson Community Hospital

Ely-Bloomenson Community Hospital is a 21-bed Critical Access Hospital and Level 4 Trauma Center located in rural northeastern Minnesota. The hospital serves the communities of Ely, Babbitt, Isabella, Soudan, Tower, and Winton and several organized and unorganized townships. These communities are home to approximately 8500 year-round residents. Ely and the surrounding area also serve as the gateway to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW), a one million-acre Federal Reserve, bringing an estimated 125,000 visitors to the area annually. EBCH is an independently governed hospital that shares its campus with Essentia Health Ely Clinic and Boundary Waters Care Center, a 40+ bed nursing home. Our hospital has an open medical staff, with some physicians employed by the Essentia Health Clinic System that shares our campus. There are currently no management or affiliation agreements between EBCH and Essentia or between EBCH or any other healthcare provider/enterprise.
